2008: Earth's coolest year since 2000

U.S. space agency climatologists say 2008 was the coolest year since 2000 but the ninth warmest since continuous records were started in 1880.

Earth's 10 warmest years on record have occurred between 1997 and 2008.

GISS climatologists said the planet's average surface air temperature was 0.79 degrees Fahrenheit above the global mean for 1951 to 1980, the baseline period for the study. Most of the world was either near normal or warmer during 2008 than the norm.

The scientists said Eurasia, the Arctic and the Antarctic Peninsula were exceptionally warm, while much of the Pacific Ocean was cooler than the long-term average due to a strong La Nina that existed during the first half of the year.

The research team said U.S. temperatures last year weren't much different than during the 1951-80 period mean, which makes it cooler than all the previous years this decade.

"Given our expectation that the next El Nino will begin this year or in 2010, it still seems likely that a new global surface air temperature record will be set within the next one to two years, despite the moderate cooling effect of reduced solar irradiance," said James Hansen, director of GISS.

Self-motivation without Gratitude is Impossible.

"The hardest arithmetic to master is that which enables us to count our blessings." -Eric Hoffer

According to legend, a young man while roaming the desert came across a spring of delicious crystal-clear water. The water was so sweet he filled his leather canteen so he could bring some back to a tribal elder who had been his teacher. After a four-day journey he presented the water to the old man who took a deep drink, smiled warmly and thanked his student lavishly for the sweet water. The young man returned to his village with a happy heart.

Later, the teacher let another student taste the water. He spat it out, saying it was awful. It apparently had become stale because of the old leather container. The student challenged his teacher: "Master, the water was foul. Why did you pretend to like it?"

The teacher replied, "You only tasted the water. I tasted the gift. The water was simply the container for an act of living-kindness and nothing could be sweeter."

Self-motivation without gratitude is impossible. Our energy is "sapped" when our entire focus is on what's wrong instead of what is right with our lives. One of our greatest challenges is to live and love in spite of pain and disappointment...to find gratitude in the midst of it all.

Reflect for a moment on this beautiful quote from Melody Beattie:

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."

The Recipe For Higher Achievement And Success

The recipe for success isn't really that difficult. There is a significant portion of the population that actually wants and need success to be hard. There are basically six key areas to higherachievement and success.

1. Making The Decision :-
------------ --------- ---
The first step in any process, making a decision to do something. This is a major step, which most people overlook . So, make the decision to move forward. Commit your decision to paper, just to bright it into focus. Then go for it!

2. Clarity - developing the Vision:-
------------ --------- --------- -----
Having clarity of purpose and clear picture of what you desire, is probably the single most inmportant factor in achievement. We know that the law of Attraction says that we will attract what we focus on, so if we don't have clarity, we will attract confusion.

3. Focus - having Plan :-
------------ --------- ---
Focus is having the firm attention to complete what you set out to do. Willpower is a good start, but its very difficult to stay on track simply through willpower. The best way is to develop and follow a plan, and start with your goalsin mind and then work backwards to develop the plan.

4. Commitment :-
------------ ---
Understanding the price and having the willingness to pay that price :-
Commitment is something that comes from uderstanding that ewverything has its price and then having the willingness to pay that price. The price is something not necessarily defined as financial. It could be time, effort, sacrifice, money or perhaps, something else. The point is that we must be fully aware of the price and be willing to pay it, if we want to have success. This is perhaps the single biggest obstacle that all of us must overcome in order to be successful.

We all carry a lot of baggage, thanks to our upbringing. The majority of people carry with them, an entire series of self-limiting beliefs that will absolutely stop, and hold them back from, success. Things like "I'm not good enough", "I'm not smart enough", "I'm not lucky enough", and the worst, "I'm not worthy" are but a few of the self-limiting beliefs I have encountered. We carry them with us like rocks in a knapsack, and then use them to sabotage our success. So, how twisted is that?

The old expression is absolutely true - whether you think you can or you can't, you're right!

One of the main key factor in living a life of abundance is shedding these non-supportive beliefs and replacing them with beliefs that will help you manifest your desires.

It is truly amazing the damage that we, as parents, can inflict on our children. So why do we do it? For the most part, we don't do it intentionally or with malice. In the majority of cases, the cause is a
well-meaning but unskilled or un-thinking parent, who says the wrong thing at the wrong time, and the message sticks - as simple as that!

And it's not just parents that are the cause - teachers, friends, clergy members or anyone else that has influence in a child's life can be a contributor to these self-limiting beliefs!

The bottom line is that we must shed the bad and replace with good beliefs.

Taking Action :-
------------ ---
"Nothing changes until something moves" - this is the battle cry of author and journalist Robert Ringer. And he is absolutely correct. Not all of the decision-making, clarity, planning, focus and belief in the world, will get you to where you want to be, without taking action!

Action - putting your plans into play - that is what will get you to the destination. Don't get caught in the paralysis of analysis, or in the conundrum of Ready, Aim, Aim, Aim, Aim…

Get the oars in the water and start rowing. Execution is the single biggest factor in achievement, so the faster and better your execution, the quicker you will get to the goals!

Conclusion :-
------------ ---
So, there you have it; the six steps in the success formula that will help you get to the land of achievement and success! You now have the opportunity to push ahead and reach your potential. No more excuses - make the commitment to take action TODAY!

Figure out what you want, put a plan together to achieve it, understand the cost, believe in yourself then go and get it!

Fact : Success is something of which we all want more Fact : Most people believe that success is difficult
Fact : They're wrong it's not
